Carbon assesments and offsetting for business and productions.

Film productions and businesses in the industry that measure, monitor and track their carbon emissions will not only reduce their environmental impacts but also their costs.

Our carbon calculator was commissioned in 2009 and is updated to international specifications annually, including DEFRA. It has calculated footprints for filming productions of all sizes, as well as a variety of businesses.

Using the framework of the GHG Protocol, Greenshoot’s was the first filming specific carbon calculator, subsequently expanded to cover all scopes relevant to fixed businesses. We’re proud to say our development partner was Jane Burston, now MD of the Clean Air Fund.

Calculating a carbon footprint is a process of collecting data: energy, travel, material use, procurement, waste. The resulting savings in both carbon and finance can be significant.

To work towards you achieving a carbon neutral production, we provide an offset scheme with partners including United Nations REDD and Carbon Aware.

Carbon footprint analysis.

We carry out carbon footprint analysis to set a carbon tonnage benchmark for your production, providing a base level for you to improve upon.

And you may also decide to offset your carbon emissions.

We have supported various offsetting projects including Carbon Aware who plant trees in the UK and the UN sponsored REDD programme who are involved in projects around the world.

Corporate assessments.

Why have a Corporate Social Responsibility assessment of your business?

Well, companies who do realise many benefits:

  • Increased brand reputation supporting new business and development

  • Attract talented staff

  • Reduce expenditure, support your bottom line

  • Improve staff motivation and retention

Our bespoke sustainability assessment includes audits for energy, water, waste and your supply chain. This will identify efficiencies (and inefficiencies) in the current systems, often leading to cost savings.
